In the heart of the Middle East there is a place where religious tolerance is embraced. Social equality is paramount and the values of peace, acceptance, and understanding are held dear - a rarity in a region scarred by violence and upheaval. This is the Saviour Episcopal School of Zarka, Jordan. Children, Incorporated partnered with this institution last year as part of our mission to reach out in impoverished areas of the world where children are in desperate need. Zarka, a sprawling industrial city, and the second largest in the Kingdom of Jordan, has experienced an ongoing refugee crisis that has compounded the growing rate of poverty among the city's populace. Originally built as a center to provide for the basic needs of refugee children the school continues to provide for underprivileged children. Well-rounded academics, vocational training,
medical care and basic support are offered to the student body. The children enrolled here hail from diverse cultural and religious traditions. Islam and Christianity are socially fused and mutually respected. There are lessons we can learn from these children: that tolerance is innate and hatred is learned.
