Our St. John's Community Center project in Nairobi, Kenya recently received a gift of carpentry tools, industrial metal working equipment, and industrial sewing machines to be used in teaching important job skills to the children enrolled there. This generous gift was made possible by sponsor and contributor Barry Chappell.
Expressing his appreciation for these tools, St. John's volunteer coordinator Peter Njuguna writes, "Thank you for enabling the children here to have an opportunity to gain skills in carpentry, metal work, and sewing through the provision of important tools which will go a long way in improving their livelihood. Previously, we trained children on using just the basic tools and it would be a struggle getting the work done on time. Now there is room to venture into areas that would have been taught in theory but now can be done practically. Also, the advanced tools will enable the children to compete with other related schools and institutions."
